How to lower cholesterol

I am reading a new book about how to lower cholesterol. Cholesterol Down: Ten Simple Steps to Lower Your Cholesterol in Four Weeks--Without Prescription Drugs by Dr Janet Brill.  For some reason, I just can't seem to get mine down even though I am eating very healthy. It's gone down from "oh, shit" to "still that high?". Anyway, I will keep you posted on what I've read.

So far... ALMONDS (1 oz; about 23 nuts) and OATMEAL (1 cup) eaten daily will bring it down. She cites research study upon study about how these foods help bring down your LDL levels. (bad cholesterol). She explains the science of it in very plain terms. I've been doing this for last several days and I've lost weight, too! I've been exercising, but I usually don't lose it that fast. I will keep you posted.

I have this book on my kindle.

  1. You know when we had that health screening, the guy suggested that I should work to raise my good levels of cholesterol. He suggested Omega 3's which you can get through fish oil. So I started talking that supplement. Don't know the results yet, but have you tried that?

  2. I'm supposed to be taking it everyday. Once I can take it again (very soon), I'm going to try to be more diligent. Doctor only said to take 1000 mg, but Dr. Dasha is going to start taking 2000 mg (2 pills). It is a VERY common thing to advise to take fish oil for Cholesterol. At Sam's Club, it's super cheap. Soy products will increase Omega 3's too, as well as fish products. They say to eat fish at least 2-3 times a week. Most people don't, so that's why they take fish oil. I'm of the philosophy that the actual food product is better than the supplement. Flaxseed, English Walnuts, dried oregano, marjoram, broccoli, and spinach are all high in Omega 3's. There is a list of top foods that contain the most Omega 3's at:

Also, many people will either refrigerate or freeze the pills to avoid any reflux or bad taste.
